The Great Lakes Loons Have an Awesome Sports Logo

Today’s hidden gem sports logo is from the great north. The Great Lake Loons have been in existence since 2007. The Loons are part of the Los Angeles Dodgers minor leagues in single A ball.

The Loons play in Midland, Michigan which is also the home of Dow Chemical. Dow sponsors the stadium so the Loons play on the Dow Diamond. The Loons first manager after they moved from Battle Creek was Tigers great Lance Parrish.

The most notable alumnus from the Loons is Clayton Kershaw who is the favorite to win the 2013 Cy Young Award. That will be the two Cy Young trophies in 3 years for Kershaw who also took home the Branch Rickey award for his community service.

I absolutely love this logo. The Great Lakes Dodgers just doesn’t have a nice ring to it. Loons are all over neighboring Lake Huron so it fits our criteria for having relevancy in the area. Plus they have a cool mascot, Lou E. Loon. I give credit to the Loons as well as they have some terrific merchandise at their online Loon Loft Shop. Huge thumbs up to the Great Lakes Loons organization for having a fun and creative sports logo.

We love baseball at Awesome Sports Logos and just like the Loons, we have some pretty cool baseball t-shirts. Here are a few.

The Idaho Taters - A “tater” is a nickname for a home run which fits perfectly with the home of America’s potato, Idaho.

The Dade City Kumquats - Each January in Dade City Florida, thousands descend on the Tampa suburb for the annual Kumquat festival. Who knew that a fruit would make such an awesome logo?

The Boca Raton Cougars - Cougars are prevalent in Boca Raton, especially at night in clubs and bars searching out their prey.

We have plenty of other awesome sports t-shirts to choose from at www.awesomesportslogos.com.

Congrats again to the Loons on an awesome logo!
