Dallas Mavericks New Jersey Is an Early Hit

The Mavericks reached out to their fans and offered them an opportunity to compete for a chance to design a set of alternate uniforms for the team. That chance and that design were one in the same as candidates were asked to submit their graphic ideas. Leave it to the Mavs, under the direction of one of sports' most progressive owners, Mark Cuban, to adopt the first-ever fan created jersey in the NBA. At least, he will have done so when the 2015-16 season rolls around. For now, though, merchandise is selling with characteristics of this look as the feature.

I think their alternate look and the logo at its centerpiece is a perfect example of a uniquely cool uniform.

The silhouette of the skyline is so much more than just an outlined, colorless version of the nighttime visage. First of all, USA Today recently announced Dallas' skyline as the top-ranked skyline in the world. Granted, the acknowledgement was inspired by the votes from subscribers, but with its national reach, at the very least, the honor remains a source of pride when considering the many worthy nominees in this country, alone. Thus, showcasing the award-winning skyline, made up of its many unique buildings, makes sense.

The logo is so quiet in its design, yet, so loud in what it represents. Its detail is in the various buildings it includes, not in obnoxious characteristics that drown out the bigger picture.

Some people have identified the failed Nuggets jersey that included the Denver skyline a few decades back as a point of resistance. The jersey was cluttered with a rainbow of colors and, frankly, the Denver skyline as it was depicted was nothing special.

These jerseys are not only a look, but an article of pride appealing to Mavs fans, certainly, but proud Dallasites, as well.
